Happy MLK Day

Today you can pick your mood for commemorating Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.:


This is a blog post I read last year about Emmett Till’s murder. An awful story wonderfully well-written. (Featured on a blog of wonderful writers, if you’re interested in poking around.)



This is the last sermon MLK gave, called “The Drum Major Instinct.” It was given February 4, 1968, exactly two months before he was killed, and it talks about how he’d like to be remembered at his funeral. Maybe it’s not as sweeping or polished as some of his better-known speeches, but I thought it was a very cool look into this man of men.
